Planting of Endemic ebony plants at prince andrew school
Most of our students will know that the Ebony is the emblem of Prince Andrew School. This year as part of our 25thAnniversary Celebrations, students from the enrichment conservation group planted a number of endemic Ebonies at the school.
The ceremonial and historic planting took place at Prince Andrew School on Friday 17 October. The event also celebrated the importance of those people who discovered the Ebony and enabled it to flourish.
Present were members of the National Trust including Vanessa Thomas and the Species Team who had helped with sourcing and cultivating the Ebonies in preparation for planting on the school site.
We were also honoured to welcome Rosie Leo, daughter of George Benjamin and Rosie Peters step daughter of Charlie Benjamin who originally found the Ebony.
It is through the determination and perseverance of George and Charlie that the future of this Endemic Ebony tree is now secure and we will all enjoy seeing these grow at Prince Andrew School over the coming years.
